TORRE LE MAIOLICHE - VIETRI SUL MARE

6 Bedrooms

Location and Surrounding Area

Set on the cliffs of the fishing village of Marina di Albori and overlooking the sea, this magnificent six-bedroom 1500 AD Saracen Tower is the perfect place for a relaxing break on one of the most famous stretches of coastline in the Mediterranean. With a spectacular cliff-top setting facing the crystal-clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, it is no wonder the Amalfi Coast is a must-visit destination on everyone's bucket list. The Tower is located in Marina di Albori, between Vietri sul Mare and Maiori, where you will be fascinated by its small alleys, characteristic white houses and balconies decorated with flowers.

The villa is just a stone’s throw away from Vietri sul Mare, a seaside resort exceptionally renowned for its ceramics. Cooking utensils, plates, vases and tiles have been made here since the 1400s. In the mid-18th century, Vietri sul Mare became known as the most important majolica-makers’ district on the Amalfi Coast. The most original items made were the very popular tiles painted with religious themes, which you can still see in streets, private homes and churches.

The Tower is also a few kilometers from Maiori, which is like an amphithetre at the end of Tramonti valley. The ancient hamlet of Maiori was rebuilt after a flood in 1954, and today is a modern small town. The fine beaches and good bathing facilities have made Maiori one of the most visited towns on the coast. The villa is a few kilometers from Ravello too. Sitting high in the hills above Amalfi, Ravello is famous for its ravishing gardens and stupendous views, the best in the world according to former resident Gore Vidal.

Tucked in between mountains and sea, Amalfi is a town best explored on foot. While Piazza Duomo and the main street are home to most of the town’s shops and restaurants, do spend some time wandering and exploring the quieter side streets, where you will find arched passageways, hidden gardens and tiny piazzas. Sitting high in the hills above Amalfi, Ravello is a quiet and elegant village. From the terraces of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone you can enjoy breathtaking views, the same loved by Wagner and Greta Garbo. Ravello is also famous as the City of Music and its Ravello Festival, an annual summer festival of music held in the town.

The villa is also a few kilometers from Positano, known as the "vertical city" climbing the hills in steps, with the oldest houses in the upper part, either faded red or pink, decorated with Baroque stuccoes. Via Pasitea, the traffic-free street going down to the sea, penetrates the heart of the town with its narrow stepped alleys, houses with vaulted roofs, terraces and tiny gardens that defy the rock. The bright colored articles Positano is famous for, on display outside the shops, blend well with the pastel-colored houses.

Torre Le Maioliche is 56 km from Naples Capodichino International Airport and 284 km from Rome Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. Vietri sul Mare is 3,5 km from the property, Maiori is 13 km, Amalfi is 18 km, Ravello is 22 km, Pompeii is 28 km, Herculaneum is 45 km, Naples is 52 km, Conca dei Marmi is 23 km, Positano is 36 km, Nerano is 47 km, and Praiano is 29 km.
