While Piazza Duomo and the main street are home to most of the town’s shops and restaurants, do spend some time wandering and exploring the quieter side streets, where you will find arched passageways, hidden gardens, and tiny piazzas. The villa is a few kilometers from Ravello. Sitting high in the hills above Amalfi, Ravello is famous for its lush gardens and stupendous views, the best in the world, according to former resident Gore Vidal.

The sight of Positano from a distance is breathtaking. Color is everywhere, reflecting on the tranquil sea, the silvery pebbled beach, and the gleaming Majolica-domed church of Santa Maria Assunta. The houses built up from the waterside, accessible to one another via an endless array of steep stairs, boast pale sorbet colors. In the summer, when the serried ranks of sunbeds fill up quickly, take a boat to explore the many small coves up and down the coast.

The ancient center of Sorrento is laid out on a Roman grid of narrow lanes, now lined with restaurants serving pasta and shops selling lemon-themed souvenirs. But away from the well-worn paths are little-explored nooks and crannies. The vaulted Sedile Dominova, once a meeting space for aristocracy, is now a working-men's club where old-timers while away afternoons play cards. If Sorrento gets too much, the laid-back town of Vico Equense, which stands on a sheer tufa cliff along the coast, makes an attractive base.

The Property
Built on the sloping cliff in front of the sea, Villa Il Tramonto boasts expansive panoramic views of the sea, beautiful terraces, and an exclusive swimming pool, providing the ultimate retreat in one of the most evocative corners on the Amalfi Coast. Trapped between an infinite blue sky and an azure sea, the spectacular clifftop setting of the villa ensures superb panoramas. This historical villa can accommodate up to twelve guests, featuring six double bedrooms and five bathrooms spread over three levels.

With spectacular views of the sea, the villa boasts an exceptional infinity pool and a generous poolside area furnished with comfortable sun loungers and deckchairs for basking in the sun. On the middle level of the villa, which is the entrance level, you will find a generous living room paved with terracotta tiles and high vaulted ceilings. Through a French door, the living room has direct access to a terrace with views of the sea. From the living room, you can also access a generous, partly shaded, and fully-furnished patio with a barbecue.

Flooded with natural light, the middle level also houses a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen with a high-vaulted ceiling, elegant furnishings, an impressive stone fireplace, and a large dining table that can accommodate up to twelve guests. On the same level, you will find three comfortable double bedrooms and two bathrooms, one with a Jacuzzi bathtub with shower and one with a large shower. Both bathrooms can be accessed from the corridor.

Accessed from the terrace along an external stairway, the top level of the villa houses a generous suite featuring a double bedroom, a sitting area, and an en-suite bathroom with a large shower. On the top level, you will also find a spacious terrace with sun loungers and charming views of the sea. On the lower level of the villa, which is the garden level, you will find a suite featuring a double bedroom, sitting area, and en-suite bathroom with shower, as well as a sixth double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with shower. On request, all six double bedrooms can be transformed into twin rooms.
